Between three and seven sentences, chosen per paragraph. A column of identically sized paragraphs is the single thing that gives a mock-up away — real writing is uneven, and a layout tested against even blocks hides problems that appear the moment real copy arrives.
Longer sentences get a comma
Placeholder text with no internal punctuation reads as an undifferentiated grey block, which hides exactly what a designer is checking: how clause breaks and commas look at this size and measure.
The traditional vocabulary, on purpose
Cicero by way of a fifteenth-century typesetter. It is kept because people recognise it as placeholder text at a glance — text drawn from a general Latin dictionary would read as real content and risk being mistaken for it.

Getting a better result
- Generate two or three different fills and check the layout against each. Designs that only work with one paragraph length break as soon as real copy lands.
- Ask for words rather than paragraphs when filling captions, buttons and table cells — trimming a paragraph by hand tends to leave text that ends mid-clause.
- Real copy always behaves differently. Placeholder text is for testing shape, not for signing off a design.

What does lorem ipsum actually mean?
Nothing coherent. It is scrambled Latin, derived from a passage of Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, that a fifteenth-century typesetter cut up to make type specimens. Its meaninglessness is the feature — text you cannot read is text you will not stop to read while judging a layout.
Can I get the same text twice?
Not deliberately — each draw is random, which is what makes “generate again” useful for testing a layout against several fills. Copy the text if you need to keep a particular one.
How much can I generate at once?
