How it works
Two different jobs
Splitting produces many files from one. Extracting produces one file containing only the pages you asked for. They are separate because people arrive wanting one or the other, rarely both.
Ranges read the way you write them
"1-3, 7, 12-" means pages one to three, page seven, and twelve to the end. Reversed ranges are read the sensible way round, and a page that does not exist is refused rather than quietly ignored.
The parts keep their name
Split files are named after the original with their page numbers appended, so a folder of results is still identifiable a week later.

Practical advice
Getting a better result
- Extracting is usually what you want when sending someone "just the signature page" — it keeps everything in one file.
- A blank page field means every page. That is deliberate: for a question like "which pages", blank should mean all, not none.
- The page count appears as soon as the file is read, so you can check the document is the one you meant before splitting it.
- Splitting does not reduce total size — the parts add up to roughly the original.

Things people ask
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read into memory in your browser and everything happens there. There is no upload endpoint, and nothing on the page that can read your content, and a Content Security Policy allows no upload destination at all.
That also means the file never sits on someone else’s server waiting to be deleted, which is the part most people are actually worried about with a contract or an invoice.
How do I write a page range?
Commas separate, hyphens span: "2" is one page, "2-5" is four, and "2-5, 9" is five. An open end like "8-" means eight to the last page, and "-4" means the start through four.
Can I reorder pages while splitting?
Not here. Extract the pages you want and they come out in document order. To reorder, extract the ranges separately and merge them back in the order you want.
