How it works
The rotation is saved, not applied
PDF stores rotation as a property of the page, so the file itself is corrected. Rotating in a viewer usually only changes what you see, which is why the page comes back sideways for whoever you sent it to.
It turns from where the page is now
A page already stored sideways is turned relative to that, not to some absolute zero — so 90 degrees means what it looks like it means.

One page in a document can be corrected without touching the rest.

Practical advice
Getting a better result
- If a scan is upside down rather than sideways, that is 180 degrees, not two goes at 90.
- Rotating does not change the file size in any meaningful way — it is a property, not a re-render.
- Mixed orientations in one document are normal in scans. Name just those pages rather than rotating everything.

Things people ask
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read into memory in your browser and everything happens there. There is no upload endpoint, and nothing on the page that can read your content, and a Content Security Policy allows no upload destination at all.
That also means the file never sits on someone else’s server waiting to be deleted, which is the part most people are actually worried about with a contract or an invoice.
Why does my PDF keep opening sideways?
Because the rotation was applied in a viewer rather than saved into the file. Some viewers rotate the display only, and the change is lost the moment the file is opened somewhere else.
This tool writes the rotation into the document, so it travels with it.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Nothing is re-encoded; the page is simply marked as turned.
