How it works
The page is drawn, not extracted
A PDF page is instructions, not pixels: fonts, vectors and images assembled at whatever size you view it. Converting means executing those instructions onto a canvas, which is why you choose the resolution rather than the file having one.
Size is the decision that matters
1000px suits a screen. 2480px is roughly 300 DPI on A4, which is what printing wants. Bigger takes longer and produces much larger files for detail that may not exist in the source.

Practical advice
Getting a better result
- If the page is mostly text, PNG will look noticeably cleaner than JPG at the same size — JPEG artefacts gather exactly around sharp edges.
- Rendering a long document at print resolution is slow and memory-hungry. Convert the pages you actually need.
- Quality above 95 grows the file quickly for a difference almost nobody can see. 85 or so is the usual sweet spot.
- The image is a picture of the page, so the text in it is no longer text. If you need the words, that is a different job.

Things people ask
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The rendering happens in your browser, and the renderer is explicitly configured not to fetch anything — no font downloads, no remote resources. There is no upload endpoint on the page at all.
What resolution should I pick?
For anything that will only be looked at on a screen, 1000 or 1600px is plenty. For printing, pick the 2480px option — that is about 300 DPI on an A4 page.
Going higher than the source contains does not add detail. A scanned page captured at 150 DPI does not become sharper by being rendered at 600.
Why is a page blank or missing something?
Usually an unusual font or an effect the renderer draws differently. Try PNG, which takes a different path through the encoder, and check the page in a viewer to see what it should look like.
