Why convert TIFF to JPG?

TIFF is the workhorse of scanning and print production, and almost nothing on the web can display it. JPG turns a scan or a print-ready file into something you can email, upload or publish.

Viewable anywhere

Browsers, phones and messaging apps display JPG. Most of them cannot display TIFF at all.

Manageable file sizes

High-resolution scans routinely run to tens of megabytes as TIFF and a fraction of that as JPG.

Good enough for screen use

For anything that will be viewed rather than reprinted, a high-quality JPG is visually equivalent.

FAQ

TIFF to JPG conversion questions

How do I convert TIFF to JPG?

Drop your TIFF files into the converter at the top of this page, or use the browse button to pick them. JPG is already selected as the output format, so you can convert straight away.

Up to 50 files can be converted in one batch, and the results download individually or together as a ZIP.

Is TIFF to JPG conversion free?

Yes, with no account and no file-count paywall. The conversion runs on your device, so there is no per-image cost to pass on.

Does converting TIFF to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so some data is discarded during encoding. The quality slider controls how much, and the default of 88 is chosen to be visually hard to tell apart from the source at normal viewing sizes.

Because TIFF is lossless, the source file itself has not lost anything, so this is a single compression pass.

Are my TIFF files uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser using your device’s own image codecs. There is no upload endpoint, and nothing on the page that can read your content.

What happens to transparency when converting TIFF to JPG?

JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a solid background. White is used by default, and you can pick a different colour in advanced settings.
